Commitment to Your Privacy

Your privacy is not a formality — it is a core part of the therapeutic relationship. This Privacy Policy explains how Attached Counseling collects, uses, and protects your personal information, both through this website and through clinical services.

HIPAA & Your Protected Health Information

Attached Counseling is a covered entity under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). This means your Protected Health Information (PHI) — including anything discussed in session, your treatment records, and your personal health details — is legally protected. Your PHI will never be sold, rented, or shared for marketing purposes.

A full Notice of Privacy Practices (NPP) will be provided to you at the start of treatment. The NPP outlines in detail your rights regarding your health information and how it may be used or disclosed.

When Information May Be Shared

Confidentiality is taken seriously at Attached Counseling. However, there are specific, legally defined situations in which disclosure may be required or permitted without your consent:

  • Risk of harm — If there is reasonable belief that you or someone else is in imminent danger, disclosure may be required to prevent harm.

  • Abuse or neglect — Florida and Texas law requires mandatory reporting of suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elderly person, or vulnerable adult.

  • Court order — If a court of law issues a subpoena or order requiring disclosure of records, compliance may be legally required.

  • Coordination of care — With your written consent, information may be shared with other treating providers involved in your care.

Outside of these circumstances, nothing leaves the session without your explicit written authorization.

Telehealth & Session Security

All therapy sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. Sessions are encrypted end-to-end and are never recorded, stored, or shared. You are encouraged to attend sessions from a private location to protect your own confidentiality on your end.
